Missioner Monday: Fifteenth Sunday After Pentecost with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Lexington, Kentucky and the kickoff to In One A-Chord at @ccclex

Sunday with St. Andrew’s continues to be a wonderful joy in my monthly rhythm! This week, in particular, I am struck with all the people who make things happen behind the scenes at church, no matter the size of the church. Volunteers, staff, altar guild, vestry members, and the list goes on, often with our people wearing many hats at the same time. So for the Monicas, the Sheris, the Bernadettes, the Eddies, the Ginas, the Janes, and the Lynns, and for all those in your faith community I give thanks.

Sunday kicked off a week long series of 25 sacred music concerts for Lexington’s 250th Celebration with an organ concert and Choral Evensong (with incense!) at Christ Church Cathedral. Evensong is one of my favorite services in our set of liturgies, so it was a true treat to pray in the pews with the people of God at the Cathedral. There are concerts everyday with @250lexington , but two opportunities to support other faith communities in our diocese participating in In One A-Chord:

Tuesday at Good Shepherd, Lexington at Noon – Magnificat: The Song of Mary through the Ages

Friday at St. Andrew’s, Lexington at 12:30 – Singing in the Spirit: The African and African American Musical Heritage
