Missioner Monday: Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost with Church of the Holy Trinity, Georgetown

A beautiful day with the good people of Holy Trinity, where I got to serve alongside Bishop’s Office colleague and transitional deacon, the Rev. Melanie Yankey, who preached about the cost of discipleship. Mother Karen Booth helped the children navigate and explore their new Children’s Church set up, and the choir of Holy Trinity was lovely on their first Sunday back! It was truly a delight to be in this space.

The paper cranes hanging in the Nave represent one year of backpack blessing (about $115) funding for the Blessing in a Backpack program that seeks to cover the weekend gap for food-insecure children by providing food for the weekend throughout the school year. Holy Trinity has already funded half of their goal to sponsor 70 students at Western Elementary in Georgetown!

I had to head home to my own dogs, but they had a pet blessing as part of Georgetown’s Best of the Bluegrass – Festival of the Horse’s Pet Parade and hopefully pictures will be posted there soon!
