Missioner Monday (On a Tuesday): September 2, 2025

The Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost with St. John’s Episcopal Church Corbin, KY and looking forward to an information Zoom tonight about our DioLex Pilgrimage to Montgomery and Selma.

Sunday with St. John’s, Corbin was so delightful! In the adult Sunday School hour, we talked about the gospel lesson, hospitality, and humility. Worship in the beautiful nave with the bright sunlight on the cool late summer morning was so lovely, and it was a joy to serve alongside the Rev. Bruce Cory, transitional deacon, at God’s table. After worship, we gathered for lunch and I got a tour of the Burkhart Center where St. John’s hosts their Community Meal, weekly AA and NA meetings, White Flag Nights during the winter months, and where many other partner communities come to work together to make an impact on the life of Corbin. I got to talk with Sue, the Senior Warden, about how everything in their faith community changed when they did Mutual Ministry a few years ago and how it really helped them as a church understand who they are and the work to which God has called them. A gift of being Canon Missioner is getting to see the diocese with new eyes and getting to witness all the ways in which God is at work! Alleluia!

I’m also looking forward to our informational Zoom tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 2nd at 7pm about our Pilgrimage to Montgomery and Selma. I believe I got the link out to all who filled out an interest form, but email if you would like to attend.
