Notes from a Spring Hike

The dog days are almost over, rereading this gave me hope.

Today is beautiful. So entirely beautiful. I am in love with today. Here on the trail there is a warmth that seems to radiate up from the earth as if she is glad that the sun has chosen to shine down on her, that she too extends a warm hand. The breeze blowing as if God is releasing the long winter’s breath; a sigh of relief at the newness to come. The coolness of the rock I’m sitting on seems to be eternal, no matter the weather, it will remain. That’s what’s so entirely wonderful about nature. It will remain. Nature has a role and a responsibility every season That role is always the same, which might be the reason I relate best to trees.
